Zero-In on Your Choice of Practitioner
So you have considered all the essentials when choosing an attending practitioner for your pregnancy. Now it’s time to put him/her to the test.
Secure an Appointment
First and foremost, arrange an appointment. Do it as spoon as possible.
A
Before you arrive at your first meeting, make sure that you have your questions ready. Put them on pen and paper so you will not forget anything.
Your Goal
Your one goal is to check if you are in sync with the practitioner. The last thing you need is a practitioner that will add up to the morning sickness and fatigue you are sure to feel during pregnancy. Don’t go looking for someone who will agree with you all the time though, lest you never come down to selecting any practitioner at all. What’s important is that he/she matches the most basic of your needs and preferences.
Show Him/Her
You should also try and show the practitioner the type of patient you are. Then observe how he/she responds.
His/Her Affiliation
You should also take a look at the doctor’s affiliation. The place where you will deliver is an important consideration. Check for features that you find important—comfortable delivery rooms, cutting-edge fetal monitoring equipment, neonatal ICU, breast-feeding support, etc. You may also check whether they would allow the father to join you in the delivery room. Or if they are rigid with visiting rules.
The idea is to develop faith and trust in the practitioner. This is a good time to use your womanly intuition.
Relax and make your pregnancy the joyous occasion that it is!
