What Are Communities Goals?

local community

Social groups of any size that share a government and normally have a historical heritage and perhaps a common culture are considered communities. They may even be defined by boundaries that are political in nature, including cities, counties or towns. Sometimes, it is defined by natural boundaries like watersheds or maybe it is comprised by the type of people that live, or have lived there. In other words, there may be people who will donate to their local community as a way of giving back.

Community is a label that explains the bonding that normally occurs between members of a group due to the commonality shared between the members. This commonality may serve as the catalyst to provide support and loyalty to each other in a community development. Community help often takes the form of a philanthropist who decides to give back to the community that supported them. There is no set way that this type of giving should be done or is done and many times it sets a precedent for others to follow.

Many times a community can be defined by its common goals, perhaps through children at school or local politicians. Participating in a fundraiser through the PTA at the local school is even considered being part of a community, as you are working together to make improvements for the children. Often, someone who has left the community and done well for themselves will come back and donate to the communities. It can be in the form of donating time or perhaps even donating a sum of money to be used for a specific cause.

Many times different types of community service “sentences” are given to individuals who have broken the law, in some minor way. On the flip side, someone involved with philanthropy actually does community service as a way of saying thank you and as a way of giving back to the community that gave so much to them.

The goal of many Communities is to improve the area for the people who live there presently and in the future. Often times a philanthropist will pick their local community where they grew up, when they are considering how to donate their time and money. This type of giving back is one thing that sets people apart and makes you realize that everyone can make a difference.
